From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk

More highlights from the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the de Young in SF. I just couldn’t resist sharing these all with you…such a great show. This is the bulk of it. Enjoy!

#548: Boudoir

Here’s a sneak peek at the stellar Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit that just opened at the de Young Museum…

Last Friday evening I photographed the Women’s Collection VIP Preview Party for Hlaska at their Fillmore store.

And what a success it was!

The event was so crowded, I barely had room to maneuver and shoot photos.

Hlaska is a cool clothing and leather goods brand, based in the Bay Area.

Every single luxury piece is produced with great care and consideration, entirely within the United States. From materials to production to final product.

This is the antidote to fast fashion and must-be-made-in-china thinking.

If you like what you see, and you like the idea of luxury products that are actually made in the USA, head over to their site and check it out.

Second Chance, part two

Second Chance, part one

Second Chance, on the Ingrimstraße, is one of my favorite shops in Heidelberg.

I always find interesting bits and bobs…

Baubles and trinkets…

Doo-dads and bric-a-brac.

A lot of people may not like the idea of buying used or old things…

But I say…

Some things get better with time.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

And, they certainly don’t make them like they used too.

Choose whichever idiom you like…

Either way, I find it a lot more gratifying to purchase something that can be re-purposed for another use…

Something with a history and a soul…

That wasn’t made in a factory in China.

So, in honor of second chances everywhere, I decided to photograph all of these wonderful treasures and share them with you!

By the way, this is just a glimpse.  As usual, there are more to come.
